An upgraded version of its successful portable vibration meter with a bright, easily readable display has been introduced by Monitran. When connected to a constant current type accelerometer the compact MTN/VM330D stores up to 100 time-stamped readings, which can be transferred to a PC using the USB cable supplied.

When monitoring the operation of rotating shafts in pumps or turbines for example, it is important to use reliable non-contact sensors so changes in performance that could indicate future failure can be monitored. Andy Anthony, managing director of Monitran, outlines the benefits of using eddy current sensors for this type of application.
Eddy current displacement sensors are non-contact devices capable of high resolution measurement of the position of a conductive target. They detect the distance of the target by sensing fluctuations in the magnetic field generated by a reference coil in the tip of the probe.
Monitran have launched a new model in their MTN/8006 range of signal conditioners. The MTN/8006TC temperature signal conditioning unit converts the voltage output from a temperature sensor to an industry standard current output.
32 channel condition monitoring system from Monitran at Maintenance 2018
A 32 channel condition monitoring system will be featuring on Monitran’s stand at the Maintenance 2018 exhibition in Antwerp this March. Known as the MTN/5032, it can monitor velocity, envelope g and temperature on all channels.
Accelerometers and velocity meters are used to measure a wide range of frequencies, including low frequency vibrations found in building maintenance. They occur at less than 2Hz, and can also be useful in monitoring bearing wear in cooling tower fans and gearboxes for example.
