Mounting Hardware
Vibration sensors must be rigidly mounted to the machine to be monitored and several methods are available depending upon the application. These can be temporary or permanent mountings. See Installation and Maintenance.
Stud Adaptors
This permanent mounting affords the most rigid coupling and therefore maximises the response at high frequencies. Adaptors have ¼”-28UNF or 10-32 threads at one end to match the sensor base and a variety of threads at the other to match the machine. Preferred for integral connector sensors.
- Base Thread: ¼” – 28 UNF or 10-32
- Machine Thread: 10-32, ¼”-UNF, M6, M8, M10, M12 length same as diameter
- Option: Flat base for attachment with epoxy resin
Quickfit Adaptors
An alternative type of permanent adaptor having a quick release thread on the machine end. Still has high rigidity but with reduced high-frequency response. Locates in the machine with less than one turn making them convenient for integral cable sensors that may need removal from time to time.
- Base Thread: Quickfit
- Machine Thread: 10-32, ¼”-UNF, M6, M8, M10, M12 length same as diameter
- Option: Flat base for attachment with epoxy resin
Magnetic Adaptors
These temporary mounts can be moved from place to place on the machine allowing analysis to be performed at many locations with a single sensor and portable vibration analyser. The high-frequency response is reduced but remains generally more than adequate for everyday machine surveys.
- Base Thread: 10-32, ¼”-28UNF, Quickfit
- Magnet: Various diameters to match sensor dimensions
