Monitoring Systems

Sensors alone do not provide the complete answer to measuring vibration and using the data to better understand machine health. Monitran offers a short range of monitoring systems that can be used not only to measure vibration but to display values, constantly watch the levels and take action in case of excess and dangerous vibrations. These range through the following:

  • simple portable vibration meters ideal for spot measurements around the plant
  • single channel vibration switches integrating sensors with a measuring and alarm unit
  • multi-channel permanently installed monitors
  • the latest microprocessor controlled system with colour display and programmability to handle any vibration problem in machinery or non-machinery applications

In all the above different controllers are linked to the ideal sensor for measurement to provide the user with flexible and effective solutions to protecting the users assets. These systems can be found in the categories on the left.

Portable Vibration Meters give you the ability and freedom to measure vibration at any point on a machine and often a simple device may be all that you need to confirm that your machinery is working within tolerance.

MTN/VM220 The MTN/VM220 is a compact, rechargeable, portable handheld Vibration Meter designed to conform to ISO10816-3 and operate with a constant current accelerometer providing an accurate vibration measurement.

This advanced microcomputer controlled multichannel condition monitoring system has extreme versatility allowing it to be dedicated to a wide range of condition monitoring applications. Normally located within a weatherproof enclosure it constantly shows each sensor status through a colour display and initiates alarms when necessary. Full integration with other control systems and types of sensors, in addition to vibration, are standard features.

MTN/5000 The MTN/5000 features a 3.5 inch TFT touchscreen with an easy-to-navigate menu that enables users to set data sampling periods, alarm threshold levels and delay times on a channel-by-channel basis or across all channels. The system will accept voltage or 4-20mA inputs and can be used to monitor many different types of sensor. AC outputs are available via door-mounted BNCs for easy analysis. Modbus and remote PC monitoring available as options.

MTN/5032

MTN/5000 The MTN/5032 features a 7.0 inch TFT touchscreen with an easy-to-navigate menu that enables users to set data sampling periods, alarm threshold levels and delay times on a channel-by-channel basis or across all channels. The system will accept voltage or 4-20mA inputs and can be used to simultaneously monitor velocity, envelope G and temperature. AC outputs are available via door-mounted BNCs for easy analysis and Modbus TCP/IP output for remote monitoring.

These systems provide continuous monitoring of vibration on multiple channels and will raise alarms or shut down machinery if the vibration levels exceed set values. Choose a variety of components to monitor the required number of channels, velocity or acceleration monitoring, outputs for data logging with options for temperature monitoring, audible and visual alarms plus. Uses any constant-current accelerometer input; industrial, small footprint, submersible or hazardous area certified.

MTN/6000

MTN/6000The Monitran racking systems have been designed to be compatible with all 6000 series signal conditioning modules. They are available with either a universal AC input or an option of powering the rack from 12 or 24 volts DC.

The full width rack MTN/6000 takes a maximum of twelve conditioning modules plus a display module, whereas the reduced width rack MTN/6050 will take only four modules plus a display module. Blanking panels are available for unoccupied slots. Both racks can be supplied in a variety of cases and industrial wall mounting housings up to IP65 rating.

Termination on the rear rack panel is by a 45° entry screw terminal; mains connection is a fused IEC type.

MTN/6100

MTN/6000The MTN/6100 Vibration module operates in conjunction with the MTN/6000 rack and a constant current accelerometer to enable continuous monitoring of vibration signals for pump/motor systems.

The module provides outputs to the MTN/6200 Display Module for vibration level display and a buffered ac signal for vibration analysis. Both 0-10V and 4-20mA output signals are also provided for PLC interface.

A fixed Transducer Integrity alarm and two pre-settable vibration alarm circuits operate local panel indicators and relay contacts for remote alarm functions.

The vibration alarms have adjustable delays to avoid nuisance tripping on machine start-up and can be set for either latching or non-latching modes. A facility for remote alarm inhibit and remote alarm reset is also provided.

A range of high and low pass filters, set via switches, eliminate unwanted input signals. The module can be configured via links to display acceleration in g, velocity in mm/s or displacement in μm. Signal conversion is true RMS as standard but peak or peak-to-peak can be specified at time of order.

MTN/6200

MTN/6000The MTN/6200 Display Module is designed for use with the MTN/6000 Vibration Monitoring System to display the outputs from up to 12 system modules in the appropriate engineering units.

Power to the Display Module is supplied from the MTN/6000 rack power supply and is indicated by a panel LED.

A rotary switch selects the channel for display and also enables the setting of alarm levels according to the position of a three-way switch on the signal conditioning module.

A BNC monitor socket provides a signal proportional to the selected module output to enable readings to be stored and analysed in a data collector.

MTN/6500

MTN/6000The MTN/6500 Temperature Module operates in conjunction with the MTN/6000 rack and a Pt100, AD590 or LM35 temperature sensor to enable continuous monitoring of bearing temperature in pump/motor systems. It can be used in the same rack as the MTN/6100 Vibration Module to give a comprehensive indication of bearing condition. The module provides outputs to the MTN/6200 Display Module for temperature display and 0-10V and 4-20mA output signals proportional to temperature are provided for PLC interface. A fixed Transducer Integrity alarm and two pre-settable temperature alarm circuits operate local panel indicators and relay contacts for remote alarm functions. The temperature alarms can be set for either latching or non-latching modes and a facility for remote alarm inhibit and remote alarm reset is also provided. The module can display temperatures over the full range of the sensor chosen which must be specified at time of order.

The AC outputs from constant-current accelerometers allow vibration analysis when connected to FFT analysers but when connected to the following modules provide vibration signals that can be monitored constantly via PLCs and controllers either analogue or digital. RMS velocity or acceleration, peak acceleration or envelope g permit monitoring of either overall machine or bearing vibrations.

MTN/8006 The 8006 vibration module is designed to power and accept a signal from a constant-current accelerometer. The signal can be integrated and converted to a 4-20mA current proportional to velocity (8006) or a standard acceleration (8006g) output. The unit is housed in a DIN rail mounting box for easy installation into junction boxes etc.

MTN/8065The 8065 vibration module is designed to power and accept an AC signal from a constant-current accelerometer. The module integrates this signal and provides a 0-10V output proportional to RMS velocity and enveloped g output plus a buffered, unfiltered (raw AC) output for connection to a data collector. The module can operate with any 2-wire constant-current accelerometer i.e. 1100, 1120, 1130, 1830, 1135 etc. Envelope g values are considered by many to be a sensitive and convenient marker for bearing wear.

MTN/8066

MTN/8066The 8066 g-mac powers any constant-current accelerometer and provides two outputs; velocity and peak g. The first is a measure of overall system vibration while the second provides large signals for small changes in high frequency vibrations and thus is sensitive to bearing faults. An AC output via a BNC connector is available for complete vibration analysis with an FFT analyser while the user can select 4-20mA or 0-10V outputs for monitoring the DC vibration signals in a PLC, DCS or other industrial controller.

MTVS0004 The MTVS0004 Vibration Switch offers a low cost, simple to install and operate solution to protect all sorts of rotating machinery; motors, pumps, fans, gearboxes etc. It’s durable case with high IP rating is suitable for long life in harsh industrial environments. Measurements are made in velocity and compatible with ISO10816 Machine Vibration Severity Test. Just bolt the unit to a flat surface on your machine, set the appropriate alarm and trip levels, connect the relays to switch alarms or to power down the machine then connect to the power supply for continuous protection. For restricted access situations or where the vibration must be monitored on bearing housings external vibration sensors may be used with mounting diameters down to 15mm diameter. Choose either latching alarm relays requiring operator reset following an over vibration incident or non-latching relays to automatically resume operation as soon as the fault has cleared.
