Operations Manager
Location: Penn (High Wycombe area), UK
Hours: Full time
Reports to: Group Head of Operations
Role Purpose
The Operations Manager has overall responsibility for the effective, safe and efficient management of Monitran’s operational functions. This includes full oversight of production, assembly, stores, dispatch, quality, test and health & safety, ensuring that products are delivered on time, to the required quality standards, and in full compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
The role is critical in driving operational excellence, improving performance, supporting business growth and maintaining a strong safety culture within a regulated and safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Provide end-to-end leadership and oversight of all operational areas
- Ensure all operational activities are aligned with business objectives, customer requirements and delivery commitments
- Take overall responsibility for site performance, operational efficiency and day-to-day delivery
Production, Assembly, Stores and Dispatch
- Oversee production and assembly operations to ensure output meets demand, quality standards and delivery schedules
- Ensure effective production planning, scheduling and capacity management
- Manage stores and inventory to ensure accurate stock control, availability of materials and minimisation of waste
- Oversee dispatch and logistics to ensure accurate, timely and compliant delivery of products to customers
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, inefficiencies and resource constraints across the operational flow
Engineering and Test
- Work closely with Engineering and Test teams to ensure products are manufactured, tested and released in line with specifications and regulatory standards
- Ensure effective coordination between production, engineering and test functions
- Support continuous improvement of engineering and test processes, capability and documentation
- Ensure technical issues impacting production or delivery are escalated and resolved effectively
Quality and Compliance
- Take overall responsibility for quality performance across operations
- Ensure compliance with internal quality systems, customer requirements and relevant industry standards
- Lead preparation for and participation in audits, inspections and customer visits
- Ensure non-conformances are investigated, corrective actions implemented and lessons learned embedded
Health, Safety and Environment
- Act as the senior operational lead for health and safety on site
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation and company policies
- Promote and embed a strong safety culture across all operational functions
- Ensure risk assessments, safe systems of work and incident investigations are in place and effective
- Take appropriate action to address safety concerns and reduce operational risk
People Management and Leadership
- Provide clear leadership and direction to operational managers, supervisors and team leads
- Ensure teams are appropriately resourced, trained and supported
- Set objectives, monitor performance and drive accountability across operational functions
- Support talent development, succession planning and capability building
- Address performance, conduct and attendance issues in line with company procedures
Performance, Planning and Improvement
- Develop and monitor operational KPIs covering safety, quality, delivery, cost and efficiency
- Use data and reporting to drive informed decision-making
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across operations, including process optimisation and waste reduction
- Support strategic planning and contribute to long-term operational strategy
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a senior operations management role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Demonstrable experience overseeing production, assembly, stores, dispatch, quality, engineering and test functions
- Strong understanding of health and safety management in a regulated or safety-critical environment
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Strong operational, analytical and problem-solving capability
- Ability to manage complexity, competing priorities and change
